OUR STORY
Founded
Giving added value to customers and suppliers in global chemicals trading – With this claim Connect Chemicals was founded in 1998 by Başar Karaca, Qiping Hou & Dirk Otmar. In addition to the distribution business of a trading company, the Connect Chemicals Group further developed to a specialized "full service sourcing" company for its customers, in the field of Specialty Chemicals.Consolidated within the Connect Chemicals Holding, various companies and offices are providing local service in the field of production, distribution, sourcing, outsourcing and blending of specialty chemicals. By continuous growth of the organization Connect Chemicals became a well-recognized global player in the world of specialty chemical.

Connect Chemicals UK Ltd, in Cheshire, UK
Established in 2001, in the North West – the heart of the UK Chemical Industry, Connect Chemicals UK was one of the earlier additions to the European Connect Group. The business was started by an experienced sales person, in national and international business and has grown in both turnover and personnel. Originally financed with support from the German Parent company, Connect UK is now independently financed and self-sufficient, having experienced significant growth, over recent years. Key industries include Water Treatment, Lubricants, Coatings and Personal Care. The customer base has grown to over 100 regular customers, who are serviced through both direct and stock sales from three strategically located warehouses in the UK. The company anticipates continued further growth in Sales and Personnel.

The US office was established in July 2001 and has had continued growth and reach in the US and Canadian markets. The US office operates under the umbrella of our parent office in Ratingen, Germany and is flourishing under the leadership direction of Richard Gardner. Key industries include Water Treatment, Lubricants & Metal Working, and Chemical Intermediates. Our customer base and product offerings have continued to grow. We service through both direct shipments, stock sales and toll manufacturing. The company anticipates continued sales growth and expansion.

Connect Chemicals France was opened on October 2003 in Paris. The Water Treatment and the disinfection industries were the first markets where Connect France stepped in, thanks to the phosphonates offer and various biocides too, which even extended our activity to the pool industry. As of today, we are also active in Lubricant and Polyurethane. France is the 2nd largest chemical market after Germany, with a strong footprint in Cosmetic and pharmacy. With always the focus on niche products, we are now developing a portfolio of intermediates and actives in order to serve these two major sectors in France.

Connect Chemicals Holding GmbH took the first step by establishing India liaison office in November 2004 to tap into the opportunities emerging in the Indian chemical spectrum. With an impactful growth during the first 3 years of inception, the India operation was converted into a private limited company in the year 2008. Connect Chemicals India has 5 employees. The office works on developing relationships with Indian producers of fine and specialty chemicals and seek to represent them in the markets of Europe and the US, where the parent company has a well-developed client base and distribution network. The parent company currently represents a wide number of specialty chemical producers, mainly based on sole agency agreements for defined product lines and markets. The office also markets chemicals produced at the joint ventures in China as well as partners from Korea, Japan & USA.

Connect Chemicals Benelux B.V.
Connect Chemicals Benelux BV has been established in June 2014 as the latest European affiliate within the global Connect Chemicals Group. The offices are located in Dordrecht, positioned between Antwerp and Rotterdam, right in the center of the Benelux Chemical industry. Connect Chemicals Benelux has developed strong relationships with all leading industries including Lubricants and Metalworking, Oil & Gas, Water treatment and Coolants, Industrial and Household Cleaning, Personal Care, Coatings and Sealants, Plastics and PU. Due to its strategic location close to the world-leading ports Antwerp and Rotterdam (Europort-region), Connect Chemicals Benelux can also effectively support export-destinations, as in Africa, Middle East or Scandinavia. The customer base has grown to close to 100 regular customers, who are serviced through direct and stock sales from warehousing-depots in Oosterhout (Brabant-province) and Rotterdam (bulk-storage), making just-in-time deliveries a reality. The company anticipates continued further growth in Sales and Personnel.

In 2021 the Connect Chemicals Group has strengthened its market presence in Latin America by opening a representative office in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Connect Brazil covers the entire portfolio from Cosmetics & Personal Care to the Water treatment Industry. This foundation is a logic consequence of Connect’s strategy to be physically present in the most important chemical markets. Our step into the LATAM region marks a milestone in the expansion plans of Connect Chemicals, as we can market our specialty chemicals & solutions to our valued clients supported by local service. Our focus will remain on quality, technology, and customer service. We center around customers’ expectations and develop close and long-term relationships. This remains the base of development and innovation of products and solutions for a better sustainable future. We are glad to bring our almost 25 years of history and experience to the LATAM region. This is a substantial step forward for Connect as well as our clients.

In May 2022 Connect Chemicals has opened an office in Istanbul, Turkey With more than 84 Mio inhabitants and a growing industry, Turkey has become an important player of the chemical and related markets. Not only the Textile industry, but also Automotive, Metal, Plastics, Cosmetic & Personal Care sector have grown substantially. Domestic demand as well as the function of a strong production hub for both the European as well as Asian markets have been growth factors over the last years. Recognizing an increased business in Turkey ourselves as well as the associated challenges, we decided to strengthen and streamline our activities in that market.
